After the defeat at Leipzig, the remants of the French Army retired back into France but were immediately pressed by the Allies. A series of setbacks in January convinced Napoleon to take the offensive and during six days in February the Emperor fought and won six battles while outnumbered in the theater four to one. Many feel it is Napoleon’s most brilliant military campaign.
