Hello,

Here are some questions about the unit stats.

1) Why does French heavy cavalry have a threat score at 450 yards?  Those of other nations do not.

2) How was the cohesion value of cavalry in embarrassing terrain defined?

- French dragoons are at ½ while English, Austrian and Russian dragoons are at ¼

- French cavalry is ½ while English or Russian heavy cavalry is ¼

3) I am surprised that light French infantry is twice as effective at 450 yards as line infantry. The French had the same training whether they were in the line or in the light. The difference in skirmisher effectiveness depended mainly on their experience and the effort expended by their corps commander.

4) Where is the French Guard? Where are the Austrian cuirassiers?

There were some errors in the French Unit Stats list, those were caught and fixed late last but just posted this morning, those corrections should cover 1 & 2.

3. French skirmishing had a greater advantage at the front end of the period than at the end of the period, debate about the particulars aside, we need French Forces to reflect that. Threat is calculated from per Unit values between – (none, does not even allow a die roll) and 1.5 (with most landing at values of either 1/2 or 1). Because we don't want to require players to track the training record of X Ligne Unit vs Y Ligne Unit, or their number of veterans and combat experience, and we also did not want to require more fractional math – because we didn't think players would enjoy tallying up '7/8s' values for instance – we settled on what we did as able to give the macro results desired. So really it isn't that "lights are 2x as effective as line", it is that we needed to reduce the overall value of the Formation and had to assign varying values in a way discernible by the player, to achieve average values which sum to nominally the desired results range. As with any game system, in the games you run/host, you can always change the ratings.

4. Not posted yet, much like slews of other Units and nationalities. We'll be putting up more over time.

4) Where is the French Guard?

We updated the French Mid War Stats PDF today and these are now largely included.
