Hi, i have been spending alot of time with the splendid campaign guide and so put the rules aside for while creating armies, looking at the rules again now i confess i cannot figure out what exactly the table on page 49 is telling me in the section "Evaluate you gaming space" - what are yards and inches referring to - it states 200 yards and with 9 inches under that, but then in the section below the other mention of 200 yards is for the 6mm ground scale of 200 yards = 1 inch
so what is the 9 inches representing in that first table? it cant represent ground scales because if 9 inches = 200 yards then that would need still quite a large space for even just a 2 mile x 2mile map - like 9 feet x 9 feet! so this cant be right
so what is the 9 inches representing in that first table?
If you look over on the left-hand side of the table you'll see the first heading is "Scale Yards" and the second heading below it is "1 Scale Mile". Then going over to the far right column of "200 yards", the line below it says "9 inches", indicating that at the 200 yard ground scale, one scale mile is 9 inches.
Thus, a 2 miles by 2 mile battlefield would be 18 inches by 18 inches.
Hope that helps!
