The trade off Ployed to Deployed seems hardly worth it ...esp off road (ployed get +33% move rate for extra vulnerability)

In many tactical games players use “road columns” to travel quickly across the battlefield. However, that is a different scope of game. Very few division sized formations of troops on a Napoleonic battlefield were ever not deployed. The purpose of the ployed option is primarily available for entering the battlefield and encounter battles. Consider the Russians at Dürenstein in 1805 or the French attempting to cross out of Russia at the Berezina in 1812. So, effectively, being ployed is circumstantial. If the size of table you play is in the realm of 4x6' or bigger… unless everyone is staged for a set-piece battle, many would be ployed, but ultimately it is up to the game host.
