Do formations on a Move order need to test to convert to Defend if it finds itself at 450 yds from the enemy?

When converting from a Support order to an Attack order, does infantry move immediately if the enemy is within 450 yds and 45 degrees to its front, and essentially receive an bonus move?

Thanks!

No test is required for order conversions.

If the infantry are as close as you describe they may go to contact with the enemy, effectively moving "extra" yes. The infantry may choose not to move and to wait until the next Movement step or if the enemy is not that close, the infantry may still convert but will not be allowed to move until the next Movement step.
