In general, how do Orders work?
Yahoo Group, 2016
Give the Objective (the target) and the Directive (the action) The definition of each directive speaks to how much latitude a Formation has in closing on their objective. For instance, a “move” directive [M] is allowed to maneuver around bad terrain, an “attack” directive [A] is not, it most go straight at its objective.
Each Force (column, corps, etc...) receives an objective, its subordinate Formations do not. So it is presumed in the rules that all the Formations of a Force will be acting against the same objective. However, since you can freely choose an objective to be... darn near anything that is clearly identifiable, you could say “The Pratzen Heights” or “the four villages east of Lützen” and those would be large, but valid.
