Wondering: is a limber needed for every single artillery battery? Or would it be allowable to only have one per division representing all limbers for all guns if that division has any artillery? Or is the purpose of the limbers to occupy that physical space which represents a particular battery's wagons, horses, crew, etc?

Or is the purpose of the limbers to occupy that physical space which represents a particular battery's wagons, horses, crew, etc?

That is the intent, it also shows the status of the artillery clearly: Is it limbered and therefore unable to fire, or is it unlimbered and mandated to fire?

I'm quite sure there are players who play ESR without limbers, but the intention is that every artillery gun stand has a limber and we include them in our ESR Box Sets in that allocation.

Right, okay. So the primary use is to indicate limbered or unlimbered. Thanks much
