Page 73 says that artillery awareness is blocked by wood, build areas and walls for any unit that is not on the edge of the listed. If you have an infantry unit that is 200 yards from the edge and an artillery unit that is 200 yards outside of the edge of the terrain. This means the infantry can fire at an artillery unit, but that the artillery cannot return fire. is this correct?

Yes. The working design assumption is that the Artillery Battery may be firing (most likely) but isn't able to target the formed bodies of the parent Infantry Battalions, only the skirmish screens which are operating well forward, while those skirmishers are pressuring the Artillery Battery.

Thanks. We are running a couple of games at the Twisted Lords convention in OKC and are going over the rules to make sure we understand them.

No problem! Hope the games go well!

On page 74 it states that awareness of the enemy by artillery is limited to 450 yards in rough terrain and 225 yards in dense terrain. Is this measurement from the artillery stand or from the edge of the embarrassing terrain?
In other words, can an artillery stand 6 inches from the embarrassing terrain fire at a target that is 1 inch inside the edge of the terrain?

I believe you're referencing 8.2.Threat Zone which says: "Awareness into [rough/dense] terrain…" so an Artillery Battery outside the terrain looking in will see into the terrain either 450 or 225 yards depending on if it is rough or dense.

Assuming we're using the 1"=150 yard ground scale, 6" would be the maximum range of the Artillery, so no, because the range to the target would be 7". But, if the Artillery was say 4-5" from the terrain and the target was 1" inside the terrain (rough or dense), yes.
