When artillery are required to retire as a result of an Assessment does that apply to both Committed and Uncommitted batteries or does it only apply to Committed batteries?
I have been assuming it is the latter as the Uncommitted batteries aren't necessarily in the firing line and it feels a bit harsh to make them retire. If the retirement applies to both Committed and Uncommitted batteries then a player with Formation that has both Committed and Uncommitted batteries could choose to retire the Uncommitted batteries first, which also feels a bit counterintuitive. I would be grateful for some clarification. Thank you.

Only committed batteries. The text in 5.4.3 does not make that clear but it should.
