Hi,

I will have bought one of the first prints of master of the world.

I cant work out how the victory conditions work for both armies at Saltanovka. The compass direction seem to be the wrong way round. Any help?

Mogilev is off-map to the north (top of the map).

The French are to either exit the southern (bottom of map) edge…

or

prevent the Russians from exiting the northern (top of map) edge.

The French victory condition is dependent on which victory condition the Russians choose – and there is no reason or requirement to inform the French which victory condition the Russians chose.

I don't *think* any of this has changed between printings, though 1812-1 is on its 5th or 6th printing presently so if something changed in from one of the earliest I could be in error.

One other Saltanovka change to note (brought this up on FB, but thought it would be useful to have it here as well in case anyone is looking for the info).

Some printings of "Master of the World" include Pajol's light cavalry brigade as a possible French reinforcement in this scenario. Per DE, it should not be present; presumably a roll of 9 on the reinforcement table yields the same result as a roll of 8.

Ah, thanks for that info; I was looking for it as we’re about to play that scenario and I couldn’t find Pajol’s Brigade in the ORBAT.

Cheers!
