Hi!

I am just making the Jaegers at the moment and in the campaign guide all the Jaegers you show have dark green trousers, yet every other source i see has them with white trousers (at least for summer dress) there is no mention in the uniform guide about any seasonal distinctions.

Is this just an error that all the Jaegers are shown with dark green pants?

Every other source? Well, there are *lots* of sources that have exclusively shown them in green… in fact, for a very long time it was difficult to find a source that showed any alternative to them being in green.

Nope.

That part was an unfortunately necessary choice on our part – we literally ran out of physical room on the page for yet another footnote which would have run two maybe three more lines on the page. Russian Yegerskiy, theoretically, wore white/creme/pale tan/un-dyed cloth trousers in the summer (most likely of linen). But… did they really? Hard to say. They weren't issued new uniforms terribly often (supposedly once every two years they were issued one pair of trousers). So, we had to decide how to depict them and chose to do it in the way that made them stand out more from their pehotniy and grenadery counterparts so that they would be easily discernible on the tabletop. We also presume that most gamers won't paint both summer and winter variations for their gaming tables because… well, that's a lot of miniatures.

Reality is that it's likely they, similar to the English and French (and probably everyone else), replaced trousers while on campaign (and probably even in peace time) from locally sourced materials on a best-as-able basis, and so the variation would be relatively high compared to spec.

my other sources were the Histoire at Collections book on Borodino and the Osprey French Guardsmen vs Russian Jaeger book and then i was looking up images online and wasnt coming across the green pants. The Hourtoulle histoire et collections mentions they had white trousers for summer and the trousers in winter were dark green. So i was wondering if it was a winter style uniform overall you chose for the look, but again couldnt be sure if that was intended or not.

I did just now look in a Knotel uniform guide and i foudn the mention of all green in the section on Russia, under " rifles" i guess that is what he refers to them in that book.

I would prefer to have them in all green in fact, as it makes a good distinction from the infantry and grenadiers, i just wanted to be sure i would be correct in doing so
